Exclusive: URC Total Control 2.0 is Complete Overhaul of Flagship Home Automation System
Launching before CEDIA 2017, URC’s Total Control 2.0 isn’t just a gorgeous new user interface, but a highly-efficient home-automation machine that’s faster, more reliable and more customizable than ever.
FAQ URC Accelerator 2.0
WHAT IS ACCELERATOR 2.0?
Accelerator 2.0 is the new software that is used to configure and customize a URC Total Control system.
Total Control is URC’s flagship home automation and control system, capable of controlling entertainment, music, lighting, climate, security, surveillance and so much more. It offers control for a variety of protocols including IR, IP, Serial, 12v triggers and relays. All devices are network reliant and communicate via either hardline connection or Wi-Fi.
The system is designed to control up to 32 zones of residential or commercial installation including multi-zone audio streaming at an impressive 48k CD quality resolution. Accelerator 2.0 allows programmers to integrate with numerous third-party subsystems for seamless control of almost every aspect of a customer’s home or business.
With basic configuration of several pull-down menus and click-and-drags, Accelerator 2.0 automatically generates user interfaces and creates all basic activities, saving hours of tedious programming time compared to other home automation software suites.
What differentiates Accelerator 2.0 from the competition is its simplicity and linear design. It is easy enough for novices to quickly program small basic systems, but it is robust enough to offer the power and flexibility required for experienced programmers to fully automate and customize the user experience. With Accelerator 2.0, Total Control separates itself from the competition with its ability to start small as a single room system and expand at any time without removing previously installed devices.
WHAT MAKES ACCELERATOR 2.0 VALUABLE TO SYSTEMS INTEGRATORS?
The ease and speed of programming permits installers to spend more time focusing on customizing the system to fit the individual customer needs rather than spending time generating interfaces and building tedious activity macros. Accelerator 2.0 allows for off-site programming modifications after initial installation eliminating the need for a truck roll or for the customer to be onsite during system changes.
Accelerator 2.0 offers many advanced features that every installer needs and their customers want. Although URC doesn’t charge for any of these features, it leaves discretion to the integrator to work recurring revenue into their sales model.
WHAT DIFFERENTIATES ACCELERATOR 2.0 FROM THE PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSION?
Accelerator 2.0 reflects the features and functions that URC programmers asked for. We listened to their requests and provided solutions, stability and efficiency. In conjunction with the new streamlined user interface, the software offers features that make end user system operation more intuitive.
Accelerator 2.0 offers a new user-friendly and resourceful Rooms Menu, a customized Scenes Menu for each room with optional activity feedback, Geo-Fencing, Reactive Push Notifications, NFC Tags, a two-way Favorite Channels module, and unified lighting, locks, scenes and thermostat devices. Additionally, URC upgraded the Mobile App to include a third-party in-app launcher, making it even easier to switch between phone apps and mobile apps.
Accelerator 2.0 includes an extensive library of room images, backgrounds and device icons used to customize the interfaces. Programmers seeking to customize the look and feel of interfaces can upload photos of customer rooms, custom background images, custom device and category icons, and even add dynamic color labels.
With Accelerator 2.0, the Total Control family of interfaces offers an experience like no other. The line-up consists of the new 7” tabletop touchscreen controller, 7” in-wall touchscreen and a 5” in-wall touchscreen. All three devices offer a camera and speaker for use with its embedded intercom system, allowing interfaces to call each other via audio/video or use it as a surveillance camera. The interfaces also offer seamless integration with compatible door stations.
Control of the system from URC’s family of premium touchscreens, keypads, remotes and mobile apps isn’t the only way to for users to interact with their smart home. With the help of Amazon Alexa intelligent voice control or Google Assistant, users can automate the home with just a few voice commands when configured in the Accelerator 2.0 software.
It’s not just visual enhancements that were made to Accelerator 2.0. Engineers also restructured the mainframe for increased stability and reliability within base stations and interfaces. Compartmentalized two-way modules now run independently of each other, increasing the overall speed and stability of the system.
ACCELERATOR 2.0 OVERVIEW
Accelerator 2.0 is designed to provide extensive customization of user interfaces without increasing programming time. This was achieved by designing efficient pull-down menus and click-and-drags, plus automatic generation of user interfaces and sophisticated macros.
