Nortek AVC Group Consolidates Elan, Niles, Xantech Reps
Nortek's Audio Video Control group pares down reps from 45 to 15; new batch will rep all AVC lines including Elan, Niles, Xantech, Sunfire and Aton. Brands to maintain separate identities.
“It’s always been a model that’s suited us,” he says. “I think it’s a model that is very appropriate for the custom installation industry because reps have tried to carry a mixed bag and serve lots of different channels. They also are able to get to regional distributors.”
During a teleconference with CE Pro, Terry, Detmer, Elan president Paul Starkey and Xantech president Graham Hallett all expressed regrets for having to eliminate some long-time reps.
“We’ve had a rep organization since 1992,” says Elan president Paul Starkey. “I think about one-half of our reps have been with us since the beginning.”
One rep, New Age Marketing in Texas, has carried Elan for a mere four years, but the organization is lucky enough to keep the line in the AVC reorg. President Robert “Rabbitt” Blake tells CE Pro he is “incredibly honored” to represent the entire AVC line. New Age already represents Elan, Aton and Sunfire, and the group will now bring on Xantech and Niles.
“Each [brand] has a rich history of leading edge technology,” Blake says. “Chances like this do not come along very often, if at all.”
