The ubiquity of the Smart Home is taking form in the recent progress Control4 has made together with national homebuilders. Leveraging that as a model, Control4 has created a homebuilder program focused on building relationships between regional homebuilders and our expansive network of CI dealers. The goal is to combine new technology in demand with homes in high-demand regions. Control4 provides dealers in their network with sales and support tools focused on solutions for homebuilders and the growing demand for smart homes.

The first step in this approach is to create bundled packages with deeper margins for homebuilders that range from one-room entertainment solutions, to whole-home smart lighting concepts, to complete property management with security. When presented with a comprehensive outline of packages available and the costs associated, homebuilders find it easy to make decisions on adding these options for their future buyers. In this capacity, adding Smart Home technology to a new home build is no different than offering kitchen countertop options. For an integrator, presenting a “tiered” system is not only easy but has a high chance of success as well.




The real benefits for the integrator continue well after the initial home development project. Developing that relationship can easily lead to many more jobs as the “Smart Home” general contractor of choice. In some cases, it can actually lead to your company being the “spec” company on engineering documents approved by development authorities, which can spread your brand exponentially. Post-build, once the homebuyer has been in the house for 4-6 months, it is an easy conversation to have with them about potential upgrades. Getting ingrained within a community gives you dozens of potential customers before you even meet face-to-face!

For some of our integrators, the success rate of their bids with homebuilders submitted in 2015 is just over 80%. Control4 is enabling members of our dealer network to approach homebuilders with smart home packages that are very reliable and everyone in the house will find easy to use.
