Your A/V business sells a technology service… so why are your proposals still on paper?

It’s a journey, he indicates, for integrators who have built their businesses on product- and profit-margins, to fully embrace the value that services bring to their customers.

When it comes to the industry’s well-established need to transition from traditional project- and –product-based revenue to more of a service-revenue model, nearly 30 percent of integrators earn only 1-5 percent of their revenue via service contract (according to the 8th Annual Integration Business Outlook survey).

It seems like integrators struggle with figuring out who is going to be responsible for the transition within their firm.

“It’s a different way for them to do business,” Fry says. “They’re struggling to understand the types of packages that you put together, how to sell those packages. If they don’t truly see the value themselves, how could they sell it to others?”
