CEDIA Q&A: Simple Control Previews Successor to Roomie Remote
Simple Control (formerly Roomie Remote) will be showcasing its home control solutions at CEDIA Expo 2015 in booth 8224.
Q. What would you say to dealers who are already familiar with your product line? A. We are introducing Simple Control, the successor to Roomie Remote, specifically designed for the CEDIA channel. Now, you can take our leading home control app and bring it to all your customers. And the best part is we’ve priced it so that you can expand your own business by reaching new segments of your local marketplace.
Q. What would you say to dealers who are stumbling across your company for the first time? A. Simple Control provides whole home control of A/V and smart home devices utilizing direct IP control over Wi-Fi and Ethernet. Custom installers have been using our app for their homes for several years now, and for the first time ever, we’ve packaged our app for retail sale and custom installation. You’re going to love the new opportunities that our app will create for you and your local business growth.
Q. If an integrator stops by your booth with only 5 minutes to spare, what’s the one product he should examine or one question he should ask? A. The one fundamental thing that we want integrators to know is how our new brand and product is positioned specifically to help grow business by expanding the custom install market to emerging markets, as middle class Americans adopt IoT technology throughout their homes. And our app is unique in that it centers around the devices people control more than anything… their A/V gear. Our app also controls all of the IoT devices, but AV control is where we stand out, while other smart home control solutions fall short.
Q. What’s your most memorable CEDIA moment? A. My most memorable CEDIA moment is still to come. We’re introducing an entirely new brand at CEDIA, along with a powerful new app, that will revolutionize the control industry and help to expand the market for custom installers well beyond the high-end niche markets that they serve today. We plan to help the entire industry grow, and we’re excited to see the response at CEDIA this year.
Q. What are your course offerings at CEDIA? A. We don’t have any formal courses, but we will have a large staff in our booth not only giving demos, but also consulting/training on complex installation topics.
Q. Do you have any giveaways, contests or quirky features planned for CEDIA? A. No trinkets, but we do offer our new app free to everyone, so everyone from the show can go to the App Store, download for free and try it out. The free version allows control of one media device, and then they can subscribe on our website to control additional devices, get media guides and more.
Q. Think of your closest competitor (company or product). What is one thing you do offer that they don’t? Please be specific. A. Media guides. With Simple Control, you can view and control video, music and photo library content from your phone and tablet. We offer TV program guides for 34 countries, including virtually every city in North America and Europe. Access DVR content, streaming music and video guides from leading streaming services. And the best part is you can use your phone or tablet as a second screen to display all of this guide content, eliminating interruption of your entertainment experience. Competitors simply don’t offer this deep media guide integration.
