CEDIA Find: Acoustic Research Power-Protecting Media Streamer
AR PW1000 Home Theater Power Station with SpeedPass packs a 5-port Ethernet switch, power conditioning, surge protection and lots of connections for audio/video/data.
Acoustic Research (a Voxx company) packs a lot of stuff into this $250 box. It features a five-port Ethernet switch, multi-component surge protection and power conditioning, and “SpeedPass” – a fancy way of saying “front-panel connections for all the most common portable devices.”
I can definitely think of several good uses for this in the streaming media department.
Here’s how Acoustic Research describes it:
The home theater has changed: we need quick plug-and-play connectivity of portable devices and reliable Internet connections for multiple components. The AR PW1000 Home Theater Power Station with SpeedPass is the first power conditioner that solves both these dilemmas, while providing the AR PureCurrent power conditioning and robust surge protection we’re already known for. The PW1000 makes it easy to connect portable devices, with SpeedPass: front-panel connections for all the most common portable devices. And a 5-port Ethernet switch gives you wired, full-bandwidth Internet access for rich audio/video streaming on multiple entertainment devices.
