CE Pro of the Week: Mike Jarboe, Eye-Fi
This week's honoree streams 99% of his personal content and gives us an excuse to post a photo of Jessica Alba.
Mike Jarboe, owner, Eye-Fi
Each week, we aim to provide an informative - yet colorful - profile of one of your fellow CE pros. Interested in being featured yourself? See below.
How would you use Twitter to describe what your company does (140 character limit)?
Eye-Fi specializes in the design and installation of home theaters and low-voltage wiring, including voice/data, and automation systems.
After you complete a project, what do you think your typical client tells his friend about the experience?
That we went above and beyond expectations; we pride ourselves on extreme attention to detail, patience and delivering above what our customers expected from us.
What can CE pros learn from your company to make them think differently and run their business better?
We would rather break even on a job by going above and beyond (within the scope of work) than make any sacrifices that would cost us the slightest bit of customer loyalty. We put loyalty before profit, and we strive to achieve perfection on every job.
What trade tip can you offer your fellow CE pros?
We have joined some provider networks to supplement our installation business during slow times, and it has helped us diversify our talent bench and break into new markets.
What’s the wildest request you’ve ever had for an installation?
We mounted a TV and hooked up a gaming system in a closet for a client’s kid.
What is your 3D strategy and do you think the technology will live up to the hype?
We have educated ourselves on the technology and offer it to our clients as an option. But we also make sure they understand that it is still in its early stages of development. We feel it will live up to the hype once the 3D content grows, and cable and satellite providers figure out a great way to deliver it.
What is your absolute favorite piece of audio demo material?
Primus “Southbound Pachyderm” … Slow build with great bass.
What is your absolute favorite piece of video demo material?
Sin City … It’s visually striking and really helps show off contrast.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
99 percent of what I watch on TV comes from Netflix Watch Instantly.
Jarboe says he likes to use Sin City for video demos, so logic dictates that we show a photo of Jessica Alba in her Nancy Callahan role.
