CE Pro 100 Brand Analysis: Top Flat-Panel Displays
Samsung, Sony lead the way in the most used flat-panel display brands in the 2014 CE Pro 100 Brand Analysis.
In this comprehensive CE Pro 100 brand analysis series, CE Pro senior editor Bob Archer delivers an in-depth look at the most frequently used manufacturers in nearly 40 product categories. The numbers associated with each manufacturer reflect the number of CE Pro 100 dealers using that brand.
The brands that are used by the CE Pro 100 are closely watched because these are the most successful companies in the industry. Many integrators look to the brands that are being used by these companies as a signal of success. This brand usage differs from rank and file integrator usage because it does not include brands that are sold through distribution typically, but focuses on direct-to-dealer brands.
Increasing their category domination both Samsung and Sony add dealers to their respective CE Pro 100 totals. Sharp, LG and Panasonic saw numbers dip, but remain strong enough to continue as top five flat-panel vendors. Seeing its numbers decline for consecutive years, Runco (three) almost fell out of favor completely with CE Pro 100 dealers in the flat-panel display category. It should be noted that 14 dealers did state they use Planar products. The question that needs to be asked is whether these dealers are doing more commercial work and using Planar’s line of commercial displays or are they simply interchanging the Runco and Planar brands.
