Bose, CEDIA Put Grudges Behind Them for Expo 2013

Bose has two High-Performance Audio Rooms at the CEDIA Expo for its custom audio and video products as both organizations put the Electronic Lifestyles lawsuit in their collective rear-view mirror.

CEDIA and Bose have mended ways. Both the association and consumer electronics No. 1 audio brand have clearly put the nastiness from the Electronic Lifestyles trademark lawsuit back in 2003 behind them, declaring it as “water under the bridge.”

The evidence of the new fresh relationship will be seen for the first time at the upcoming CEDIA Expo as Bose exhibits its custom-focused product lines in two High-Performance Audio Rooms (#503-504) at the Colorado Convention Center this week.

The message to integrators is also clear: There has never been a better time than now to start carrying recognizable brand names such as Bose. According to the first-ever CE Pro Brand Influence Study, a whopping 98 percent of integrators acknowledge that product brand names have value to their clients. In the same study, integrators reported that Bose was the second-most requested brand name by their clients (behind Samsung).

Bose speaker lines offer a complementary product line for integrators to go with their other high-end lines. They also enable integrators to capture a new potential customer base that they may have previously been turning away. Finally, the builder and MDU markets are both enamored with brand names, which puts Bose in a prime position to help integrators forge those new relationships.

Bose equipment will be on display in several distribution partners on the exhibit floor, but integrators will be directed to mosey down to the demo rooms, where Bose will be showcasing several products. First, the company will have its 46- and 55-inch VideoWave II TVs that combine a 1080p LED backlit display with a home theater sound system built into the TV.  The rooms will also have on-demand demos of the Bose CineMate 1 SR soundbar and the company’s BUILT-Invisible system.  Lastly, the company will be touting its new third-party control relationships with full setups of Control4 and RTI systems controlling lights and a Blu-ray player via an iPad. Bose also has relationships with Crestron and Savant.
