American Audio & Video, the U.S. distributor for Thorens, has announced the introduction of the new $650 TD 201 and $900 TD 202 turntables.

Initially launched in Thorens' home German market, the new turntables are designed with vinyl newbies in mind since these users often desire an easy-to-use turntable. According to American Audio & Video, the turntables are also ideal for consumers looking to return to their youthful vinyl days.

Both turntables ship preconfigured with phono cartridges, belt-driven motors, aluminum platters, rubber mats, and integrated switchable phono stages to support direct connections to any amplifier or receiver product.

Finished in a high-gloss black, the Thorens TD 201 is designed as a plug-and-play turntable and features the company's TP 71 tonearm that includes a detachable headshell, along with an Audio Technica 3600L phono cartridge fitted to the tonearm.

According to the German analog audio company, the TD 202 completes its line of manual plug-and-play turntables.

Stepping up its performance specifications, the TD 202 incorporates a large high-gloss black plinth, along with an Audio Technica 95E phono cartridge, and a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that offers a USB output.

Thorens explains the inclusion of the built-in DAC allows homeowners to digitize their favorite records to store and playback them back digitally on their home networks and smart devices.

The TD 202's included Audio Technica 95E phono cartridge is a moving magnet design, and it features a 47k output impedance rating and a 2.5mV output voltage rating.

In addition, integrators can provide their clients with complete record playback and maintenance packages that include a choice of Thorens stabilizer weights, cleaning kits, anti-static cleaner, and cork mats.
