5 Trends to See at CEDIA Expo 2008
Outdoor A/V, high-end speakers, thin flat panels and mounts, in-wall speakers and cable, and oddball moneymakers will be on display.
Every year, attendees flock to the CEDIA Expo expecting to see a paradigm shift in technology that ushers in a new era for the custom installation business.
In the past, products such as media servers and high-def DVD players have made their debut at the event.
Scanning some of the products anticipated to make their unveiling in Denver, here are some of the trends you can expect to see.
More than ever, outdoor audio and video products seem to be poised to break out.
Weatherproof TVs, rock speakers and even film screens designed for outdoor use will be on display.
The economic slowdown has not hit the luxury end of the business as hard as other niche markets.
Therefore, it’s not a surprise to see that a slew of ultra-high-end loudspeakers will be on display.
Thin TVs and Thin Mounts
Flat-panel TVs have never been so skinny… as thin as 1.5 inches in some cases.
Many of these sleek new sets will have their coming-out party in Denver.
Thus, it’s logical that several very thin mounting products are also on tap.
In-wall/In-ceiling Speakers & Cable
There are so many offerings in these two categories, it’s getting to the point where integrators are probably wondering which companies don’t offer in-walls or cable.
That said, it means dealers need to be more discriminating than ever in their choice of cable and architectural speakers.
Check out the Ultimate Guide to In-wall/In-ceiling speakers for a number of options.
This year’s show might challenge integrators to think out of the box a bit.
There will be companies showing off products and services ranging from analog-ripping services to digital grand pianos, all of which can potentially earn revenue for integrators.
