Earlier this week we reported on Roku adding two new Netflix players, the Roku HD-XR and Roku SD, and Netflix support on the PS3 coming in November. Now it's Nintendo’s turn. According to Dan Rayburn of BusinessOfVideo.com, Nintendo is currently testing Netflix streaming on the Wii. Roku is adding two set-top boxes and new content channels in the coming weeks. The step-up Roku HD-XR ($130) and Roku SD ($79) will join the popular Roku HD Player. The Roku HD-XR, like the Roku HD, features 720p HD playback, optical audio output and HDMI connection. However, the Roku HD-XR has upgraded the WiFi to b/g/n and added a USB 2.0 port, which Roku says there currently is no use for. The Roku SD loses the HD outputs of the other two models, offering basic WiFi and analog connectivity.…

SIM2, Krell to Share Booth at CEDIA Expo 2009
Tom LeBlanc | 09/04 09:43 AM,
While some companies are scaling back their CEDIA Expo 2009 exhibits — or not exhibiting at all — SIM2 is looking to increase its presence and gain some market share. That’s why the projector manufacturer decided to co-exhibit with Krell in booth 2912, according to SIM2. Is Vudu giving Netflix a run for its money? The movie service, which includes more than 2,200 high-def titles within its 16,000-plus library, continues to extend its reach in Netflix-like fashion. After recently teaming up with LG, Vudu has announced that it's on-demand library will be available on Mitsubishi's Diamond Unisen Immersive Sound LCD sets. It was made available on Vizio TVs earlier this year. Vudu also streams YouTube, Flickr, Picasa and Pandora services, plus more than 80 "On Demand TV" channels. LG Adds 1080p Vudu Streaming to Broadband HDTVs
Arlen Schweiger | 09/01 01:05 PM,
0 Comments
We heard about LG adding Vudu movie rental streaming to its broadband TVs earlier this summer, and now the service is officially going live. The two companies launched the streaming for LG's LH50 1080p LCD and PS80 1080p plasma series, streaming Vudu's HD video library and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. LG already offers Netflix streaming through its "NetCast Entertainment Access" service on the broadband TVs, so adding Vudu to the arsenal seems like another no-brainer as display manufacturers beef up their video options. Vudu had previously partnered with…
