Someone at Netflix appears to be having a nervous breakdown. Can you blame them? Back in July, Netflix announced plans to separate its streaming and DVD plans. Everyone probably remembers how that panned out. Despite the outcry, Netflix went through with its new pricing plan. CEO Reed Hastings eventually sent out an apology, only to drop another bomb, saying that the company would separate the two business units even further. The DVD side would soon become Qwikster. What is all the fuss about Netflix scrapping plans to split up its streaming and DVD businesses? From what I can tell, the 60-percent price increase for using the services remains intact. CEO Reed Hastings blogs today: “While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes.” Newsflash: One million subscribers didn’t drop Netflix because it was spinning off its mail-order DVD business into a new entity called Qwikster.
