Crestron Prodigy Keypads
Rachel Cericola | 02/16 12:47 PM, 0 Comments
Crestron just announced the P-CBDEX and P-KPLEX, two new wireless keypads that connect directly to the Prodigy home control system. There is absolutely no need for any type of gateway. That’s because all Prodigy control systems, such as the new PMC3 and PMC3-XP, feature a built-in wireless gateway. No separate network is needed, making for a cleaner, easier installation process. Of course, it’s pretty cool as well. The P-CBDEX offers both lighting and multiroom audio control inside one Prodigy keypad. It has access to on/off functions, as well as audio… View this story

Crestron and Sequel Technologies have been talking for two years about the ease of integration between their products: Crestron’s home automation system with Sequel’s security panels. That’s because Sequel was the first, and still practically the only, third-party company to build products with native Crestron IP Control protocols. Now Crestron is proving just how good the integration can be, touting Sequel’s ST8 security system as if it were Crestron’s own. Crestron calls it P-SECURITY. The security system is now featured online with all of the other Crestron products in the… View this story

CE Pro broke the news about Crestron's forthcoming Prodigy "3 Series" but details are just trickling in. This photo taken at Infocomm 2010 appears to be the new PMC3 controller with video outputs for an OSD. Also, VP technology Fred Bargetzi clarified a few points after our original PMC3 story: In version 1, the on-screen display is component only, no HDMI (as confirmed by image). The OSD in the first release is not an overlay; it consumes the entire screen."Timing is tight on the parallel development schedules," so Crestron isn't sure… View this story

Crestron is shoring up its Prodigy product line, and distributor AVAD is upping its training and support for the entry-level control system. In the course of a recent AVAD Webinar, the presenter used this slide to compare a typical Prodigy system with a comparable solution from Control4. Now dealers are all in a tizzy debating the accuracy of the table. Kevin L comments: The HC300 comes with a remote control so we can remove SR250 $199 off the price, the TSE-3.8C2-W is not 699 its 599 so take off $100,… View this story

Crestron has big plans for Prodigy, the company’s first real entry-level solution for home automation. Prodigy featured a rather small suite of products with limited functionality when it debuted late last year. Even so, dealers had purchased more than $5 million of the stuff by May of this year, Crestron tells CE Pro. And that was before the company debuted its new PTX3 Prodigy remote, and just after the release of the PAMP-4X100 six-source/four-zone amplifier. In an exclusive interview with CE Pro, VP technology Fred Bargetzi provides a six-month report… View this story

Crestron has announced the launch of its newly expanded Prodigy training classes. The new training program is now a three-day course designed to equip installers with the tools and knowledge to be successful right away according to the company. Prodigy is said to offer CE Pros a simple and affordable home control system. Since its introduction, the N.J.-based manufacturer says it has become one of the company’s most popular product lines. Crestron adds that the control and automation line is designed for simple configuration using the Prodigy Composer setup wizard… View this story

You’ve heard of “cookie-cutter” solutions. Well, that’s not what will be discussed during the CE Pro webinar, “Package Products to Wrap Up Great Margins,” Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. EST, sponsored by Savant. The custom market is expanding and smart manufacturers — SpeakerCraft, Crestron and Savant, to name a few — are launching “affordable” products designed to appeal to more middle-market consumers. Packaging products or system packages are another way for CE pros to create new clients and expand their referral networks, according to Ben Jamison, VP of sales for… View this story
