Curtains are so yesterday. Opulis is introducing at CES 2013 an adhesive “smart film” that is affixed to windows, and then lightened or darkened via mobile devices. The Wi-Fi version from Sonte is on display at Eureka Park, the start-up section of CES at the Venetian. Lowe’s may well be the first retailer to succeed with home automation. That’s my verdict after visiting with the home improvement store at CES 2013 and revisiting the Iris solution that didn’t impress me a year ago. Several product categories are on the upswing in 2012, including lighting and shade control. Indeed, Lutron Electronics is having quite a year.
