Mitsubishi Electric was the last hold-out in the rear projection TV (RPTV) business, and now the company is dropping the line, CE Pro has learned. Mitsubishi Electrical Visual Solutions America, Inc. (MEVSA), the group in charge of the RPTV and other video product lines for both residential and commercial markets, has sent a letter to authorized service centers (reprinted below) indicating they are “discontinuing the manufacture of 73”, 82” and 92” DLP projection televisions.” The memo, issued by MEVSA president and CEO Junichi Nose, indicates that the move is part… View this story

Mitsubishi 642 Series
Grant Clauser | 05/23 11:39 AM, 1 Comment
Mitsubishi, the only company still offering rear projection DLP TVs, is adding a couple of budget-focused TVs to its line. The new 642 series and C12 series both include 82-inch TVs. The C12 is Mitsubishi's least expensive line, and the new 82-inch model ($2,599) includes a 6-color processor, two HDMI inputs and a 120Hz sub-frame field. It doesn’t include 3D or smart TV online services. The next step up model in the same size from the 642 series does include 3D, a 3D emitter (not built-in), advanced video calibration options… View this story

Being small companies, for the most part, integrators seldom have the time for a vital business function: public relations. Most dealers probably have never done any PR. Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America, Inc. is hoping to change that. The company has announced its PR for Partners Program that supports dealers with free public relations services provided by its media relations partner, Lionheart Communications. "We understand that many of our dealers may not have dedicated public relations functions in their marketing departments, so we’re offering the services of our public relations… View this story

Mitsubishi's 75-inch LaserVue TV has won the Most Efficient Energy Star designation for 2012, making it one of the most energy-efficient TVs 55 inches or larger in the United States. Mitsubishi’s LaserVue L75-A94is the largest TV to be recognized in the Most Efficient EPA Energy Star rankings. The TV's laser-light source delivers cinema-like color at a fraction of the power consumption of similarly-sized TVs, Mitsubishi says. The LaserVue L75-A94 operates at less than 85 watts, below the Energy Star 5.3 requirement of 108 watts. “Meeting the Energy Star Most Efficient… View this story

Mitsubishi HC7800D 3D Projector
Rachel Cericola | 12/14 08:45 AM, 0 Comments
Mitsubishi just made its new HC7800D 3D Projector a little more enticing by throwing in a free pair of 3D glasses with the purchase of the projector through the end of 2011. Extra 3D glasses run $199 pair, making this a nice little freebie for your clients. It also comes with a 3D emitter and Mitsubishi’s two-year limited warranty on parts and labor. Priced at $2,999, the HC7800D has Texas Instruments’ latest DLP .065-inch DMD chip, a full 1080p HD resolution, and a 2D-to-3D conversion feature. It also has a… View this story

Seeking to make its 2012 Big Book of AV Tour (BBOAV) bigger and more successful than its just-completed 2011 tour, Stampede announced plans to bring the event to 13 cities in the United States and Canada next year. The distributor will also double the length of each day’s exhibit hours and increase the number of on-site training programs. “Our 2011 Big Book of AV Tour was the biggest, most successful tour in the three year history of the program,” Stampede president and COO Kevin Kelly says. “Frankly, given the fact… View this story

Mitsubishi is pretty much the last DLP TV maker standing after Samsung exited that business in 2009. Why is Mitsubishi clinging to a technology that many would consider outdated compared to flat screens? Answer: DLP rear projection is an amazing value and there’s still money to be made, especially if you hold a virtual monopoly on the category like Mitsubishi does. “I want to know who’s making money in flat screens,” says Frank DeMartin, VP consumer product sales at Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America, the consumer and professional display division… View this story

I went through a rough patch with my 60-inch rear DLP recently, and I thought it might be over between the two of us. The Mitsubishi set, model WD-60735, started fading about a year ago and was pretty much unwatchable in recent months. Had I been an actual consumer, I might not be willing to spend a few hundred bucks on a 2.5-year-old $1,000 screen for someone to come out and repair the thing. But I was willing to invest $100 on a new lamp to see if that was… View this story

Ignoring the warning signs, I couldn’t resist that 60-inch Mitsubishi DLP display we bought three years ago for less than $1,000. We had plenty of space for the beast, and a console to put it on. But now the display has gone dark, after gradually fading for the past year or so. I assume it’s the lamp. After all, Mitsubishi DLP lamps are one of the three big TV fails that dealers should always be prepared for. If we got three years out of the lamp, then we’re probably lucky… View this story
