KEF has introduced two series of architectural loudspeakers - the Q Series and C Series - that offer square- and rectangular-shaped speakers with ultra thin bezels. The ultra thin bezels and magnetic grilles on the new rectangle and square Ci Series models are designed to blend into a home's decor, allowing installers to place the loudspeakers throughout the home. KEF says the Ci Series' grille treatments allow the speakers to be placed in humid/moist environments such as bathrooms, patios and porches, and boats. KEF's Q Series Custom Installation (Ci) speakers… View this story

England's Consul General Danny Lopez probably wishes KEF's 50th anniversary celebration went on for longer than just one night. Last week, the British loudspeaker manufacturer invited industry folks and press members to the East 51st street Manhattan penthouse of Lopez to fete the company's golden anniversary in high style -- including bringing in a pair of KEF's super-sleek Blade speakers for just that night to mark the occasion. The temporary audio setup looked and sounded quite fine in the Consul General's digs, despite the company's admission that the Blades could… View this story

More often than not, concept cars stay just that -- concepts. They're cool to look at during auto shows every year, but don't expect to see most of them on the street anytime soon. British loudspeaker manufacturer KEF debuted its Concept Blade loudspeaker in 2009, and it could be safe to say that many of us who saw it in hotel rooms at tradeshows did not think it would actually become available to purchase. It seemed to serve more as a fun experiment for the company to then borrow engineering… View this story

Spring definitely arrived at EHX: The CE Pro Event, which showed evidence of an economy on the rebound. Attendance is steadily creeping up since the economy began to crumble in 2007. With 4,500 total pre-registrants, EHX 2011 beat last year’s numbers by 10 percent, and the industry is optimistic about the next event, scheduled for March 15-17, 2012. “It’s clear that dealers are hitting a brick wall with their old ways of doing business, and they’re looking for new opportunities,” says Jim Wagner, general manager of EH Events and Education.… View this story

KEF is offering two new sweet-sounding additions to its Custom Installation (Ci) series at EHX - The CE Pro Event: the QR and CR lines with a total of seven models. All of the new in-ceiling loudspeakers feature an Ultra Thin Bezel design and a “tangerine” waveguide, promising a greater level of dispersion and driver protection. The QR line includes KEF’s Uni-Q technology, which places the tweeter in the acoustical center of the woofer, promising bigger sound and better room coverage. All also feature gold-plated spring-loaded binding posts. The Ci130QR… View this story

It's no secret to the loudspeaker community that it is essential to offer products that combine style with performance and for a number of years the British loudspeaker company KEF has tried to fulfill these requirements to satisfy its dealers and ultimately their clientele. The latest products from KEF to meet this consumer and dealer criteria is the T Series. These loudspeaker products feature low-profile bass and midrange drivers and vented tweeters placed in enclosures that are just 35mm deep (just under 1.5 inches). To help dealers with the installation… View this story

If people want flat-panel TVs, they must want flat on-wall speakers, too, Kef figures. At CEDIA Expo 2010, Kef introduced its T Series, “one of the world’s thinnest high-performance home theater and flat panel audio systems.” Kef’s Johan Coorg said that within their 35mm deep cabinets the speakers boast an ultra-low profile bass and midrange driver plus a fully-vented tweeter. The lack of depth, he said, doesn’t come at the expense of audiophile sound — he then played a demo that backed up his claim. The T Series flat panel… View this story
