Fresh off its CEA Innovations Award win at CES 2012, Atlona touted its LinkCast wireless HD distribution system during Integrated Systems Europe (ISE 2012) in Amsterdam. Based on technology from Amimon (WHDi), the LinkCast system enables the distribution of multiple HDMI sources to multiple displays wirelessly up to 40 feet. The product is aimed primarily at PC-type sources, as a USB port is required for power. NuVo Technologies, one of the most popular brands in multiroom audio, is preparing a new wireless system that promises to be just as elegant as its professionally installed hardwired systems. If one wireless stream of Apple AirPlay audio is good, then three must be three times as good, right? That’s a fact, says Tom Morgan of Worthington Distribution, speaking about the new DMS3.1 “Streamer” from Russound, a leader in multiroom audio. Russound did an “excellent job” all around with the Streamer, “but the three streams of AirPlay puts it over the top,” Morgan says. ISE 2012 attracted more than 40,000 attendees during the three-day event that recently concluded at the Amsterdam RAI. The commercial- and residential-focused trade show also saw the number of exhibitors increase 15 percent to 825 in the 11 halls of the Amsterdam RAI. And with more exhibitors comes more products and more, well, interesting sights. Integrated Systems Europe, the trade show for commercial and residential A/V dealers, had another great year in Amsterdam despite Europe’s “economically challenging times,” says marketing director Dan Goldstein in what may be the understatement of the year. Power management and protection doesn’t seem to have the following in Europe as it does in the U.S. UK integrator Steve Moore said as much last year when we met with him at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2011. At Integrated Systems Europe, Kaleidescapewas all prepared to address questions about the recent tentative ruling in its lawsuit with the DVD CCA – a decision against Kaleidescape that came down shortly before the show. “But it didn’t really come up,” says senior marketing director Tom Barnett during the show. The European home automation standard KNX continues to gain steam, as we are finding at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in Amsterdam.
