Savant Revises Dealer Education Program

Savant Systems LLC, a manufacturer of Apple-based home automation and commercial control system has announced the introduction of its newly revised Savant University training resource for integrators. The Cape Cod-based company says the dealer education program combines both classroom and online learning programs. Savant has adapted the BlueVolt learning management system for enhanced usability and course access. Lowe’s to Sell Cloud-Based Home Management System

Big-box chain Lowe’s has announced it will sell a cloud-based home management system called Iris that allows customers the ability to monitor and control their home from anywhere by using a smartphone or computer. Iris will be introduced in mid-2012 in selected stores and on Lowes.com. The system will be based on U.K.-based company AlertMe’s Smart Home platform and home hub. Verizon Rolls Out Home Monitoring and Control Solution

Telecom giant Verizon has launched its long-anticipated home connectivity and energy management solution, joining huge service providers ADT, Comcast/Xfinity, Alarm.com, Vivint and others in providing basic home control of web-based cameras, wireless thermostats, lights and appliance plug-in modules. Like the other providers, remote control via smartphones is also available. Tyco in Talks to Buy Visonic

Tyco International (NYSE: TYC), the parent company of ADT, is in negotiations to acquire Visonic Ltd. (VSC: Tel Aviv), according to a report. According to the Israeli website domain-b, Tel Aviv-based Visonic has released a statement that is "in negotiations with Tyco for selling itself under a 60-day exclusivity agreement" and "the terms of the deal and the price have not yet been agreed and there is no certainty the talks will lead to an agreement."
