Industry veteran Gary Yacoubian has assumed the role of president, CEO and managing partner of a new venture called Specialty Technologies LLC. The Millbrae, Calif.-based company recently purchased the assets of SVSound (SVS), a premium specialty audio manufacturer of loudspeakers and subwoofers. Yacoubian is a 25-year consumer electronics veteran who was formerly president of Washington, D.C.-area based A/V specialty chain MyerEmco, which fell into bankruptcy in 2010 after Yacoubian departed. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced the members of its 2010 Executive Board and the members of its Board of Industry Leaders (BIL). The Executive Board, elected in October at the CEA Industry Forum in Phoenix, now includes Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn, BrightStar chairman Denis Gibson, Sony president and COO Stan Glasgow, Leviton director of business development Ian Hendler, and Mark Luden, president and CEO of The Guitammer Company.
