Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, hasn’t exactly “endorsed” Mitt Romney for president, but he’s a gushing supporter, CNNMoney reports. It’s no surprise Shapiro, an advocate for free markets and limited government, is supporting a Republican and fiscal conservative, especially one that is remotely tolerable to social liberals. Shapiro’s book The Comeback: How Innovation Will Restore the American Dream, is critical towards modern-day Democratic-inspired policy. Gary Shapiro: ‘3DTV will be a hit’

Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the CEA, doesn't seem fazed by the lack of 3D content. Or by how expensive 3D systems are. And he certainly isn't worried about "Avatar" losing the Oscar for Best Picture and the impact that will have on 3D. In CE Vision Magazine, Shapiro says "3DTV will be a hit. Attendance, Optimism Up at CES 2010

Attendance was up at CES 2010 after the first two days, says Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) president and CEO Gary Shapiro. Attendance through Jan. 8, 2010 was 112,515, according to Shapiro. There were only 98,495 attendees after the first two days of CES 2009. Final attendance in 2009 was 113,085, down from 143,695 in 2007. Prior to the show, the CEA predicted attendance would be 110,000 for the show. Shapiro, who noted that there is more optimism than in 2009, says the numbers are preliminary and have not been audited.…

Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs to Keynote 2010 CES

Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm, will deliver a keynote at 2010 CES, which takes place Jan. 7-10, 2010 in Las Vegas. Jacobs will speak at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8 in the Las Vegas Hilton Center. This will be Qualcomm's first CES keynote. CEA Names 2010 Executive Board Members

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced the members of its 2010 Executive Board and the members of its Board of Industry Leaders (BIL). The Executive Board, elected in October at the CEA Industry Forum in Phoenix, now includes Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn, BrightStar chairman Denis Gibson, Sony president and COO Stan Glasgow, Leviton director of business development Ian Hendler, and Mark Luden, president and CEO of The Guitammer Company.
