D&H Touts Increased ‘Green’ Product Portfolio

Since first launching its "Go Green" initiative to promote environmentally friendly technologies one year ago, D&H Distributing says it now offers more than 6,300 green-certified products... a more than a 50 percent increase in the distributor’s total portfolio of ecologically conservative products, up from approximately 4,000 in January 2010. Since that time, D&H has sold 10,133,265 eco-conservative items overall. Green-certified products are defined as using less power, incorporating renewable resources, being ENERGY STAR- or RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)-compliant, or having some other ecologically-conservative attribute. And you think you run a green business. No other specialty A/V retailer in the country runs a greener shop than Abt Electronics in the Chicago suburb of Glenview, Ill. First of all, the 350,000-square-foot namesake store is “completely off the grid,” says principal Mike Abt, a self-professed hippie. Earth Day: Good, Bad & Ugly of Going Green

It’s Earth Day, so I suppose I should to be writing something about being green and going green tech, which I do regularly anyway. I like the concept of Earth Day. But I liked it better when it meant cleaning debris out of streams and raising awareness that we were trashing our planet with pollution. Don’t worry. I’m not going to go all Al Gore on you.
