Blockbuster Files Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Blockbuster has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, listing assets of $1.02 billion against debt of $1.46 billion. Blockbuster says it has reached a deal with a group of bondholders on a reorganization plan and secured $125 million loan to finance operations. Blockbuster says its U.S. operations will continue normal business while in bankruptcy. Blockbuster will no longer provide funding to support its operations in Argentina. Blockbuster Again Charging Late Fees

If you receive movie rentals in the mail, you really don't need to read this. But if you still visit your local Blockbuster (of which there could be almost one thousand fewer by the end of 2010), be aware of pesky late fees. The struggling video rental service, which like rival Netflix does not charge late fees on postal-based rentals, will have $1 late fees for in-store movie rentals beginning in March, reports Home Media.
