I get why companies change their names, but does anybody really care beyond the PR and advertising firms who profit from the new logos, mission statements and corporate letterhead? Audiovox is the latest to announce a “powerful international corporate image” under the new name Voxx, which happens to be the company’s long-time ticker symbol (not to be confused with Voxx the Psychic). Quoted in the press release, Voxx International CEO Patrick Lavelle explains, “Everything we have and continue to do is about enhancing shareholder value for years to come.” Since… View this story

Audiovox Corporation has formally announced it entered a definitive agreement to acquire Klipsch Group Inc. for $166 million. The deal will be financed by a combination of cash and an asset-based revolving credit facility. The transaction is expected to close within 30 days. The acquisition, which was first announced during CES 2011, turns Klipsch into a wholly-owned subsidiary of Audiovox. Klipsch will be run as a stand-alone operation under its current management team. Audiovox plans to acquire Klipsch, marketing the accessory giant's first foray into the custom electronics market. Many of the good companies have already been snapped up by the likes of D&M, Legrand, Nortek and Duchossois, but the prospects are still plentiful for Audiovox. Ignoring several excellent prospects in the loudspeaker and audio electronics categories, we grade the potential that Audiovox might acquire these privately held companies in the home technology space. Listed here are a few prospects and their grades – offered by this author alone -- with “A” representing… View this story

Over the years, Audiovox (Nasdaq: VOXX) has expressed an interest in the custom electronics channel, and it has been widely speculated that they would make acquisitions in the space. During CES 2011, the CE accessories giant announced its intention to buy Klipsch in an effort to bring higher margin brands to the Audiovox family. We expect Klipsch to be just the beginning for Audiovox in the custom home electronics market, following in the path of Nortek, Legrand, Duchossois and D&M. All of those organizations have acquired home technology companies over… View this story

Audiovox (Nasdaq: VOXX), a company best known for buying distressed brands in the accessories business, is straying from its roots with the planned acquisition of Klipsch Group Inc. The company announced on January 6 that it had signed a non-binding term sheet to purchase all of the shares of Klipsch, subject to a number of contingencies. It’s an unusual move for Audiovox, whose core business revolves around such technologically low-brow products as Terk antennas, Energizer batteries, Acoustic Research boom boxes, RCA gadgets, Code Alarm car security products and Surface Clean… View this story

Audiovox announced at CES 2011 in Las Vegas that it plans on buying Klipsch Group, which includes brands Klipsch, Jamo, Mirage and Energy. Audiovox says it signed a non-binding term sheet to purchase all of Klipsch's shares, adding that the deal is "subject to a number of contingencies" that include the completion of due diligence, negotiations, and signing of definitive agreements and requisite approvals. “The Klipsch brand is world-renowned and we believe Audiovox shareholders will benefit from the value of their unique market position, diversified customer base in home and… View this story
