BICSI, PSA Security Network Partner on IP Training

BICSI, the 23,000-member telecomm association supporting the information technology systems (ITS), has partnered with PSA Security Network (PSA), an electronic security buying group, to promote IP security training and credentialing. Electronic safety and security technology is rapidly evolving and has integrated beyond the network grid. CompTIA Expands Security Trustmark Certification Program

CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, has expanded its CompTIA Security Trustmark program to include two levels of the business accreditation, which identifies companies that follow industry-accepted best security processes. CEDIA Dealers Report 13% Revenue Jump in 2010

Both revenues and profits increased in 2010 for integrators. Those are among the key findings released by the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) from its 2011 Benchmarking Survey, which evaluates the state of the CEDIA member electronic systems contractor businesses for calendar year 2010 and reports on 2011 expectations. Results from the survey indicate that companies are beginning to see some relief from the economic downturn; respondents anticipate the number of growth opportunities to increase in 2011. After Friday, pricing will increase for both tradeshow access and education offerings. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced its 2011 class of inductees into the Consumer Electronics (CE) Hall of Fame, and custom electronics is well represented. Among the 11 inductees are two prominent pioneers in the custom market: Sam Runco and Sandy Bloomberg. Warning Issued for Deficient Cat 5e, Cat 6 Cable

In the ongoing effort to educate the structured cabling industry on non-compliant cable products, the Communications Cable and Connectivity Association (CCCA) and the Copper Development Association (CDA) have issued a warning about cable using copper-clad aluminum conductors that do not comply with UL, NEC or TIA codes. The CCCA has encountered several sources in the U.S. marketing Category 5e and Category 6 communications cables made with copper clad aluminum conductors instead of solid copper conductors.
