Someone made my Control4 App! I created a 4Store wish list in July, which included a grocery list management system. Looks like my wish has come true, thanks to I-Novi, a new design group from the Belgium-based technology consulting firm Altran. I-Novi’s "Organizer" lets you: Organize your everyday shopping list in a simple manner, and save it to your Email. Show a calendar indicating days when groceries are posted and get a groceries list for each day. There's no associated barcode scanner at this point. The $9.99 Organizer app is… View this story

Control4 is holding a contest for the most prolific and popular app developers for the newly opened 4Store. The company will reward $5,000 in cash to the developer with the most apps, and $5,000 in product to the developer with the most popular app (by the number of downloads through Nov. 30). In addition, Control4 will recognize the 4Store Developer of the Year during CEDIA Expo 2010. Long anticipated by dealers and developers alike, 4Store went live when Control4 shipped its OS 2.0 earlier this month. While there are some… View this story

By 2015, 6 in 10 TVs shipped worldwide will have a network connection and 70 percent of those units will ship with an embedded app platform and app store, according to a new report from Gigaom Pro called, “TV Apps: Evolution from Novelty to Mainstream” (subscription required). In all, some 3.7 million apps will be downloaded in 2010 and that number will grow to 965 million by 2015, according to GigaOM analyst Michael Wolf. Consumers will pay for one in four of the apps, including those that enable paid services… View this story

Each week, we aim to provide an informative - yet colorful - profile of one of your fellow CE pros. How would you use Twitter to describe what your company does (140 character limit)? Intuitive, Invisible, Incredible. We are technology contractors, electronically enriching the spaces where our customers live, work and play. After you complete a project, what do you think your typical client tells his friend about the experience? “Call eLifespaces. They’re a one-stop shop for electronics, computers, HDTVs and more. Control4, developer of popular, affordable home automation systems, introduced its app store last September. But during CES 2010, you can see how beautifully the store is coming along. Now called 4Store, the offerings are wide-ranging, to say the least. On the more practical side, there are apps for Netflix, eBay and energy monitoring and management. But then, there are also apps for wine management (eSommelier) and games. Plenty of developers offer plug-ins for Windows Media Center (WMC), but just try to find and download them, especially from a 10-foot interface. It isn't pretty. Finally, there is now a kind-of "app store" for WMC: MadeForMediaCenter.com, developed by Media Center MVPs Ian Dixon and Andrew Cherry. Through the site, users can browse applications and download them via remote control using Media Center's TV interface. No fussing with keyboards and mice. "The only 'non Media Center' thing you'll get is a UAC [User Account Control] prompt if you have UAC… View this story
