Fresh off its CEA Innovations Award win at CES 2012, Atlona touted its LinkCast wireless HD distribution system during Integrated Systems Europe (ISE 2012) in Amsterdam. Based on technology from Amimon (WHDi), the LinkCast system enables the distribution of multiple HDMI sources to multiple displays wirelessly up to 40 feet. The product is aimed primarily at PC-type sources, as a USB port is required for power. Licensing Chief: Still No Such Thing as ‘Wireless HDMI’

Leslie Chard, former president of HDMI Licensing, told CE Pro in 2008, “There is no such thing” as “wireless HDMI.” More than two years and plenty of products later, the answer is still the same, but the messenger has changed. “HDMI is a wired play,” Chard’s successor Steve Venuti tells CE Pro. “That’s it. There is no wireless play.
