Starfield ceilings are nothing new to home theater enthusiasts. But Fiberoptic Studio Corp. says they have something truly special - and now they’ve got the patent to prove it. Fiberoptic Studio just announced that its iSky Panels received a U.S. patent (#7,766,526 B2). The product combines fiber optics with LED and digital technology to create a unique star ceiling experience. “While starfield ceilings have been around for some time, early designs had inherent problems in cost and tedious, labor-intensive installation,” says Jeff Graham, inventor and CEO of Fiberoptic Studio. “By…

Sanus Adds Floating A/V Furniture

OK, so the headline is a little misleading ... the new Java Series JFV60 from Sanus Systems doesn't magically float. But it does look pretty cool sitting legless mounted to the wall, snug under a wall-mounted flat-panel TV as the company showed at CES 2010. The unit of course can be kept on a client's floor if you choose, where it would support up to 350 pounds of A/V gear. But with three wall studs required it still can carry 200 pounds of electronics heft to it when it's mounted…

Lessons Learned From Apple’s Best Non-Holiday Quarter

News flash: The way to rise above the recession is to develop products people love. Most people don’t love audio anymore. They just love the portability and how easy it is to get content. Just ask Apple, which is calling its fiscal third quarter its best non-holiday quarter ever. Apple reports revenue of $8.34 billion and a net quarterly profit of $1.23 billion. The gross margin was 36.3 percent, up from 34.8 percent in 2008 Q3. iPhones drove the success. Apple sold 5.2 million iPhones, representing 626 percent unit growth…

SnapAV Aims to Double Dealer Profitability
Julie Jacobson | 03/17 09:03 AM,
16 Comments
Dealers are talking about SnapAV, but few of them know what the company actually does. SnapAV looks like a distributor but it isn't. Instead, the company is a manufacturer that happens to offer a wide range of A/V products including speakers, cables, cabinets, racks, screens, amps, mounts and more. SnapAV designs the products; contract manufacturers overseas create them. The company sells direct to dealer, eliminating mark-ups from distributors. Internet sales are not permitted, and SnapAV does not sell to consumers. "We protect dealer margins," says VP of marketing Adam Levy.…
