Last year I raved about the Verizon One Internet Appliance. Number Two is much better, with a sleeker look, more telephone features, and a suite of applications including traffic, Outlook synchronization, Pizza ordering (for real), music and photo sharing, traffic reports and more. Kind of makes me want FiOS. View this story

Russound is the first of the “big four” music server makers to embrace the PC-centric Media Center platform. The company promises a unit that is more reliable, and better suited to distributed audio than the other players. Niveus Media, purveyor of high-end Media Center PCs, is showing at CES 2007 an external CableCard receiver that accommodates two CableCards for use with Vista PCs. The Niveus Digital Cable Receiver has two CableCard slots, allowing users to tune into and/or record two channels simultaneously—including HD premium content from cable providers. View this story

It started with a Blu-ray player in November, 2005. A few months later LG Electronics pulled the plug on that, promising a dual Blu-ray/HD DVD player instead. Then nothing. And now LG promises to demo a dual player at CES, expected to ship “early 2007.” View this story
