Artison LCR Speakers

Through the implementation of its DualMono Center Channel technology, Artison’s Masterpiece, Portrait and Sketch in-wall left, center and right speaker products are said to focus spoken dialog in the center of a flat-panel video screen. The Masterpiece is the company’s flagship speaker and it includes 5.25-inch Kevlar long-throw woofers and an adjustable super tweeter. The Portrait LCR utilizes dual 4.5-inch Kevlar long-throw woofers and 25-millimeter Artison Super Tweeters. The Sketch shares the same footprint as the Portrait, but its driver array features two polypropylene 4.5-inch woofers and 1-inch silk-dome tweeters.

I think its sad that any inwall speaker can be considered an “Architectural” style speaker. This should have been titled Ultimate guide to inwall and inceiling speakers.

@Ray, Why is it sad? When the category was invented, it was in opposition of the old monstrous box/tower speakers. The in wall in ceiling speakers were built into the architecture of the building. I think that makes them Architectural.

I’m not sure if it’s sad or architectural.
Maybe a better term for this category is “Car Stereo for your Home”. You know, smaller speakers mounted in or on an acoustically resonating, diffracting, distorting surface.

As for the “monstrous box/tower speakers”; they are still the only types that can deliver honest high fidelity stereo and multi-channel audio.  But car audio, I mean architectural audio, is still fun and can sound OK.

By the way, many moons ago, I recall installing car audio speakers in a customer’s home ceiling at the inception of what many now call custom AV.  Manufacturers had not yet re-packaged car audio speakers as custom.

I see the purpose for both types and I do agree that towers will sound better, I dont know for a fact but I would be willing to bet the in ceiling car speakers far outsell the high fidelity monsters.Just like the ipod far outsells the best turntable or SACD player.  Apparently sound quality isnt everything
