Auto Calibration, Speaker Setup

The STR-DA5600ES features Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC) with Automatic Phase Matching (APM).  Without changing the front reference speakers, APM corrects for phase differentiation between front, center, and surround speakers, ensuring an ideal sound stage regardless of speaker type.  The STR-DA5600ES also offers DCAC EX which includes speaker relocation, not only adjusting for the distance but also the angle of the listening position to create an optimal listening environment.

The receivers also feature Sony’s innovative new HD Digital Cinema Sound that was developed together with Sony Pictures Entertainment.  Incorporating high-mounted front speaker placement, HD DCS was designed to transform and replicate both the sound quality and acoustics of a movie theater in the home environment creating an unmatched home theater experience.

I’ve just received my 5600es. Coming from a 5300ES which was plagued with HDMI issues and a long 4 month wait, I’m pleasantly pleased. First, the stereo sound stage is much better on the 5600es. Its nearly holographic and the sweetspot is much more flexible. I Love the 4 port switch, I’m able to hook up my Xbox, Blu-ray player and media player with 1 cable from my broadband router. Loving the PC config option and the Iphone app.

I’ve not had any of the previous HDMI handshake issues , on that alone, I’m a happy camper.

Overall, and compared to my previous Denon and Yahama receivers, this is a Fantastic sounding receiver and serves many purposes, replacing alot of kit.

Thanks for the excellent review

Thanks for the comment, Riaad. Maybe I’ll turn it into a separate blog.

I hear the same affirmation every time a new av hits the retailer, i have the 5300 and the 5500, and in blind tests, they sound exactly the same, in fact i believe that THE 5600 and the 5300 share almost everything, DCS EX…. cmon… its all in our heads, i have a lot of time, and a lot of avrs, and they all tend to sound just how I like it
the stero image… my god, ever read audioholics in this subject…
ok enjoy you rebranded and updated 5300 for “just” another 2000…
