Category: Home Theater/Media Room Project of the Year up to $50,000 Integrator: SmartHouse Integration Project: House on the Bay The room was a dark concrete bunker behind the garage. The size of the room was right but the low ceiling as a challenge. The change in ceiling elevations was due to the sunken living room on the main floor. Running cabling in the space took surgical precision grinding in the concrete ceiling and walls. All cabling was terminated at the wall mounted Middle Atlantic rack. The Digital Projections MVision 400 projector had to be mounted tight to the ceiling to allow for head room. The projection screen was fixed to the wall which had an additional 18” of ceiling height. Placement of the screen was critical to allow for the projector throw and to get as big a screen as possible. We installed the Stewart 160” Luxus Delux screen. Sound was critical for our client so we went with the JBL Synthesis LS 7.1 surround system. The Pioneer Elite surround receiver provided the horse power to make the room come alive. Control of the theater was done with the ELAN g! HR2 hand held remote and a serial interface with the main house HC8 system. We can share audio and video content as well as use the local Pioneer Elite Bluray player. Lutron Radio RA ll lighting integration provides the lighting scenes.Back to article
