Hi Everyone,

Just had a question on what you use or recommend in the iOS platform for a Project management app (keep up with CI installs start to finish) and a Time/Materials project manager app to log time & goods used, then be able to compile for my Peachtree Accounting software for billing.

Also, any other iOS apps that you really find useful with Dist. Audio/Video, Theater, Automation & Lighting Control projects & installation would be appreciated too!!

I did a search for all here & also on the main site for any articles that have recommendations.  Couldn’t find a thing.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Your challenge will likely be finding something to interface with Peachtree.  Intuit had a Time Tracker service - they gave up a couple years ago.  They bought a company and now use their time tracking tools.

Sounds like you would like something that all your team members could track time using their phones and that project managers can even generate change orders and other documents that would then link back to Peachtree.  My guess is you’ll find 80% of what you’re looking for with about 20% custom programming required to get it to connect to Peachtree.

Looks like this does way more than you need: http://www.hindsitesoftware.com/field-service-software.cfm
but could be a starting point for a detailed analysis.

Happy traking.

Thanks for the info Morgan.  Looks like a great piece of software.  I’m really looking more for a simple app that will allow me to enter manually into my Peachtree accounting package.  I want to have people, esp. me, able to enter job time & materials while at a jobsite and then just allow me to print or view a listing to bill from.  I see a couple that looked pretty good but have a 50 cent per entry fee for an ongoing cost.  Just want to pay for the app and be done with them till the next upgrade I can’t live without!  grin

Thanks again.  If we were running a larger crew, we’re more custom-custom with less staff & projects per year and higher single job project totals.

Were you looking at http://www.timewatch.com?  Or something else?  Please post as it may be something others could save time researching.  Although sometimes I wonder just how many eyes end up here.  smile

I just looked at this software and again don’t think it will meet what I want it to do.  Also, looking for a one time pay on app/software for iPad that is more of an easy way to “park” the client project info and call back up with maybe hrs. totals & list of materials & prices paid.  I don’t want to keep up with it in the “Notes” that’s available as I might just as well write that down faster on a small paper tablet.

Anything else anyone?  Sounds like a good app for someone that likes to write apps to get into a needed area of the trade I bet.

Probably less than 1% use Peachtree.  Not much of a market I’m afraid.  Any custom app would have to sell for tens of thousands to make development worth it for the handful of potential customers.  So, it doesn’t add up.

The other option is an in-house effort.  Which in the end will cost you something to the tune of tens of thousands I’m willing to bet.  The inexpensive options are more stand-alone apps.  You’d have to have someone then re-enter into Peachtree.  That may be your solution.  Use something like http://www.invoice2go.com/ and then just have someone put that data into Peachtree.

Not ideal, but it would get it done.
