I am trying to find a gadget like a standard RF garage door opener, but one that does not require the person in the car to push a button on a remote.  Rather Im looking for an “active” system that detects the car when it gets close, identifies the car, and activates the garage door.  Sort of like a tool booth gadget the ID’s the car when it goes through the tool booth.
My searches in the usual places has not turned up anything.

Use a wireless driveway sensor with a relay output closure output to your existing garage door switch/circuit.  You could check with suppliers such as Smarthome for a plug in type, something like X10 or other wireless utility system.

In Europe we have an in-car unit that sends a gate command when the car reaches a specified position the it detects by GPS.
It sends an installer programmed code on 433.92MHz so not sure whether this will work, or be licensable where you are.
