As an IT professional since the days of NT3.5 and user of MCE since it’s initial release, I have long been a promponent.  However with the problems associated with Vista in general and it’s cooperation with devices and applications and the new problems seen around the internet and on both my 2005 and Vista Media Center, I am one step away from forgetting MCE as well as Windows Desktop.

The latest thorn is the continued Restricted Content blue screens on regular TV.  The news or a show of CSI, PBS shows, you name it.  I continually get the blue Restricted Content screens.  This has become so frustrating that I am thankful I only have a handful of MCE installs in the field.

This actually gives more fuel to the anti-MCE users and udnermines the movement of this platform.  It has been a great product but this latest has caused me so much grief that I wish I had never gone down the MCE track

Have you continued to see this after the Windows Media Center updates issued on Tuesday that are supposed to resolve it?

Yes.  The problem began after one of the patch tuesday updates in July or August but now has been resolved.  I havent’ checked into the patches to determine which one did the trick.  I don’t believe it was the tuners since no patch was applied to them.

Sorry I was not more specific on the question.  I was referring to the patches that came out on 10/14/2008 that addressed that issue.

The patches that came out on the 14th corrected the problem.  As soon as I applied them I began thoroughly testing throughout the day as well as throughout the 15th and the problem has ceased.
