good day to all

I intend on starting my own integration company.
I have done basic installations (home theater systems, stands, remotes etc). Then it occurred to me that this is an opportunity worth pursuing. So i enrolled in the CEDIA bootcamp, and am in discussion with a crestron rep about getting some crestron training. Thing is i still have to pay for the crestron equipment.

Question 1. is this a wise path

I do have a degree in business management so my accounting (taking care of cash flow and inventory) will not be an early issue. I have also had experience in sales. I sold blinds for about two years and made good commissions
i want to do the hands on work, instead of hiring contractors. While i am open to contractors i don’t see the need until the company starts growing

Question 2 any advice or suggestions

And a good day to you!  Congratulations on the decision and to the never ending university that offers daily lessons - Entrepeneur U.

1) It is certianly considered good advice to focus on specific products.  But a bigger question should be answered first.  What is your market?  Perhaps you will want to focus on growing from what you have experience with, as you stated: basic installations.  If so, it would be premature to buy into any advanced solutions.  Or - maybe you want to target more complex systems and have the resources to take the time to train and purchase equipment and Crestron is certainly a product that has it’s place.  You’ll have to determine this.

2) Your business will be more custom than the work you do.  Gather information, set goals, track progress and find people you can trust to help.  Treat customers, vendors and employees well.  Don’t be greedy - try to find opportunities to use your skills to help.  Remember a part of anything worth doing will suck, because if it were easy - everyone would do it. Percevere and personally I recommend prayer.

Oh, and MARKET - MARKET - MARKET then close the deal, get their signature and for everyone’s sake - get paid.

Ok, now I need to cut and paste this into my business plan.

Just food for thought I would look into AVAD as your dealer for the beging, you can do tranning through them for crestron and buy all supplies and everything else you can thing of. This is just a big help in keeping your cost down, in the beging. When things pickup for you, then consider buying direct from crestron.
