Hi All.
I have a client that wants to rent a projector for outdoor use from 12-6pm. Is there such a projector that would actually work?
This is to run a slide show advertising local sponsors.
He has told me that 10,K luminens will work from what he has heard, I am skeptical about that one.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend using http://www.projectorcentral.com as a resource.  The bottom line, the more lumens you can get, the better.  But also, you’ll be fighting with day light.  Not only is the projector an issue, but the screen surface is also.  A high gain surface will reflect not only the projected image well, but the sun light too.

I don’t know about renting a projector or a 10k lumen projectors, but you definitly want through as many lumens as you can afford. If you can cover the screen with a dark tent or portable stage on a trailer, you would be able to stop direct sunlight on the screen and increase the picture quality. You also may want to use a projector with a rear projection screen.

I use Boxlight Projectors for high lumen applications. Their Pro4500 is 5000 lumen, dual lamp projectior that retails for $6k. The MP-65e is a good value with 4500 lumen at $4k.

Good luck....

You should call Shea or Angela at Wagner. http://www.wagnerdirect.com they will give you a price for the rental plus they will send you everything you need along with pre-printed fed-ex tags for return shipment. Let them know the size screen that is being used, and what type of media is being presented (ie Powerpoint, Movie, etc.). 10k seems a little low, but it depends on the impact and quality the client wants, the throw distance and the amount of direct sun.
