Anyone know of a reliable source of in-wall outdoor speakers?
I need to mount in the wall of large outdoor terrace (8 speakers).  They will get direct sun and moisture, maybe direct rain, but not much.
Customer does not want on-wall speakers sticking out from wall (easy to get!).
Thanks!

The only speaker I know of that fits that description is the Sonance Original Series Extreme XT (http://sonance.com/products/speakers/detail/253) but reality is anything with a poly or other synthetic hard cone should work as long as there is a good seal.

Thanks Isaac, The sonance looks like it might work OK.  I see a few sites that sell “marine” speakers,but mostly odd brands.  Hard to tell how well these things will hold up over time, hate to replace em every year or so.

Check out the Paradigms:

AMS-100RX 6.5” round coax RETAIL: $518.00 PER PAIR (only sold in pairs)
AMS-150RX 8” round coax RETAIL: $698.00 PER PAIR (only sold in pairs)
AMS-150RX-SM 8” round stereo monitor RETAIL: $429 EACH (sold as singles)

I too carry the entire Sonance line, but the Paradigm’s will blow them away in sound and also have stainless steel grills & hardware designed to last a very long time.

Hope this helps!

@Grayson

Make sure you look at the depth of the wall, texture, etc as well.  Some stucco homes especially can use amazingly thick layer upon layer of styrofoam for the different architectural elevations, that could cause a problem with “in wall” installations as the dogs are not far enough back to grab the back of the material.  I had some coach lights on a home once in that situation, and they were near impossible to get in correctly.

Good luck.

As a general question, do any of you typically recommend this approach?  I have always shyed away from in wall speakers outdoors, more for fit and finish concerns than for weatherproofing issues.  If you have had a lot of success with in-walls outdoors, I’d love to know.
