I am located outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the east coast between New York and Washington DC. We have basically 2 service providers here: Verizon and Comcast. Verizon delivers service in most areas with fiber, otherwise it’s DSL. Comcast delivers over coaxial cable.
I have Comcast as Verizon hasn’t built-in to my neighborhood yet. I don’t know if I would switch to Verizon if they did deliver to my neighborhood. Anyway, I just completed a speed test using http://www.speedtest.net. I know the Comcast headend equipment is less than 10 miles from my house but my test server was located in Frederick, Maryland. This is about a 2 hour drive.
The results:
Upload~15.8mbs
Download~4.0mbs
I will ask a client to check their speed and post that.
