Hey guys,
My name is James Shaffer. I’m new to this forum…
I’ve been poking around a few places to see what kinds of CAD software people are using for their AV systems designs. I’ve found many users of the “usual suspects;” AutoCAD, Visio (yikes!!!), D-tools and the like.
I’m wondering how many of you have ever heard of, or tried AVSnap. It’s a CAD software package that is made by Altinex. I have found it to be very powerful; so much in fact that I’ve been using it almost 100% since 2006. Oh yeah, and it’s FREE!!
I recently wrote an article about AVSnap. You can find it at:

While I’m not affiliated with Altinex, I am a loyal fan of their free CAD software.
So, my question again is…have you tried AVSnap? Recently? If not, have you found another FREE CAD design software that can do the trick?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
