I have a question regarding Blu Ray DVD players. I am looking for a cost effective alternative to paying the high cost of a standalone Blu Ray DVD player to add to my home theater setup. Currently, my home theater setup includes the following:
· A dedicated PC with Media Center Edition
· Panasonic High Definition Projector
· 7.1 Denon home theater receiver/amp
· Standalone DVD player
· Power conditioning equipment
After doing some research I found that since the demise of HDDVD there are very little alternatives to paying the high cost of a Blu Ray DVD player that would allow me to enjoy the benefits of HD quality DVD’s. However, I did find one that might work best for my financial situation. That is, to purchase an internal Blu Ray DVD drive for my dedicated home theater PC. Best Buys is currently running a sale on an LG Blu Ray DVD drive for $150.00.
With that in mind and since I am not quite up to speed on the differences, if any between a standalone Blu Ray DVD player and an internal Blu Ray DVD drive, I thought I would ask for advice from professionals before I ventured out to purchase the internal Blu Ray drive for my computer.
Having said all that, my question is:
What are the technical advantages and disadvantages of an internal Blu DVD drive that I should consider before I purchase?
I hope this makes sense and would appreciate any insight that you have on this topic.
