Does anyone have a recommendation for a CATV signal meter? We are looking for a meter reading 5-approx 900 mhz. If you have a recommended source, please include that, too. Thanks.

We use the Sencore meters. They aren’t cheap, but they are very durable, and most importantly, accurate. The SA-1454 is a good starting point. ( http://sencore.com/products/rf-analysis/16 )

You can also look at Holland Electronics if you want something a little simpler and less expensive, but also reliable. ( http://www.hollandelectronics.com/catalog/catalog.php?product_id=Hand-Held-Signal-Level-Meter )

I have also some information related signal meter. The MDU Signal Level Meter measures digital and analog signals up to 2.15 GHz. It was designed for DBS, MMDS, SMATV, and CATV applications. Straightforward layout makes the MDU the industry’s most user-friendly digital measuring SLM. Rugged construction and strong batteries also differentiate the MDU from other meters.

^^^ Ditto for sencore.

Before I purchased mine, SA1454, I checked with the local Comcast guys and they said it would be able to check everything but DOCSIS3.  The other reason i checked in with them was to get a local channel plan and QAM settings.
