What type of trainings would you like your distributor to offer?

We are in the process of putting together our training schedule for 2009. We’re always looking for new ideas and better ways to help our dealers. I’m hoping a few of you could let me know what you would like to see more of or less of. Are you happy with the trainings and seminars offered at your local distributor? Would you attend seminars on finance, business management, local laws and codes etc.? Are there issues or topics you are looking to learn more about?  If so, what are they? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s an idea.  Offer hands on training to small groups.  Let them literally install, mount and/or program a system.  You could market it as an opportunity for job seekers.  Perhaps you could include some of your more loyal and busy customers and it could be an opportunity for them to recruit.

I’m sure there is a business and/or political type reason this isn’t done - so I’ll be interested in hearing.

It’s a great idea. We actually tried this once and it was a huge success. Next year we are planning to expand on this using multiple brands. For example a multiroom system, lighting control and a remote control. We haven’t come accross any political hurdles yet as a matter of fact the manufacturers have been very helpful. I think the reason that you haven’t seen this done too often is because it takes a lot of planning to put it together and it also requires a lot of space. We are fortunate to have fairly large training facilities in both of our locations. Thank you for your input.

I’m not sure what you sell/distribute, so am also not sure what to suggest.
