VUDU is currently embarking on a series of dealer events in various cities. These events are aimed at introducing VUDU to dealers who want to see the product in action but also want to talk to us about the company and why you should partner with us. On the corporate side we are hoping to have a senior exec at each event so you can understand where we have come from and also so they can better understand the needs of this channel.

The dates we have set at present are as follows;

June 19 Salt Lake City
June 24 Kansas City
June 25 St. Louis
June 25 Columbus
June 26 Cleveland
July 1 Costa Mesa, CA
July 2 Van Nuys, CA
July 3 Scottsdale, AZ
July 8 Foster City, CA

At each event we are having 3 (identical) sessions at the following times

9 AM - 10:30 AM
12 PM - 1:30 PM
3 PM - 4:30 PM

If you or any of your colleagues would like to attend one of these, please RSVP at the following page so we have a rough idea of numbers.

Aside from this I know we also have plans to have people at lines shows by some of our rep/distributors.
I’ll be at the Easy Access grand opening today 6/18 and Thursday 6/19 in Burligton, MA. I know we will also be involved in shows with Orion in IL and Profressive in MI in the next couple of months.

What? I write the nicest story about Vudu and you won’t come to Minnesota? We have 3 days of summer. The window is shrinking.

LOL - well we are actually looking at a date in Minneapolis so we may miss summer (which, as an Englishman, I believe is highly overrated) but we do hope to hit your neck of the woods before CEDIA.

Let’s see if we can open up the thread for this product again.

Question: Has anyone designed and installed Kaleidescape with Vudu?

I’m not sure if anyone has, but I can safely say that if the budget can support it, the Kaleidescape system is a great complement to a VUDU box.  The Kaleidescape system takes care of housing the existing DVD library while VUDU provides convenient access to new releases and HD content.  Do you have specific questions about installing the two? (FWIW and full disclosure), I used to work at Kaleidescape.

Not to pull you away from these fine forums but you can find more info on VUDU at Integration Pro’s Manufacturer Zone as well as VUDU.com own forums.

VUDU is the perfect complement to a Kaleidescape installation.DISCLAIMER, I have worked for both companies and have both Kaleidescape and VUDU in my home.

Both can be IP controlled and both rely on a well designed home network. Kaleidescape is for your legacy collection of Standard Definition DVDs and CDs, it stores the content you own. VUDU is for all the content you don’t yet own with over 7000 titles instantly available to rent or buy. Kaleidescape does music CDs, VUDU does not. Kaleidescape is rack-mountable out of the box, the current VUDU hardware requires the custom Middle Atlantic shelf. VUDU has native 1080p HD content, Kaleidescape does not. Both have a fun, easy to use on screen display. Both have remote monitoring of hard drive health as well as world class technical support.

Many Kaleidescape dealers are also VUDU dealers, it gives customer’s the best of both worlds, support for their existing library of DVDs with Kaleidescape as well as access to thousands of hit movies available instantly via VUDU, many in 1080p24 with DD 5.1

My wife and I are partial to VUDU, not only because I work here now but we believe internet delivery is the future, not shiny discs. I can boast to guests that I have 600 movies on my Kaleidescape System or that I have 7000 on VUDU, they can pick any one they want and watch instantly.

Kaleidescape has announced their 1080p players.  Thank you Casey and Patrick for the input.  I see these products as working nicely together, though wonder what the experience will actually feel like for the user bouncing between GUI’s.

I am also concerned about this area in the market with regard to copyright protection.  I know both Vudu and Kaleidescape have teams of people in place to comply with the law, but it seems like there is still some open issues that could really create a problem for the service side.

Because we (VUDU) directly license our content from the studios, we do not have the issues those storing physical media on a hard disk, have.  This is why we have had massive studio support.  Throw in 1080p24 HDX encoding, real-time playback for HD and SD movies and an amazing interface and it’s easy to see why VUDU has grown to 1000 CI specialty dealers in just 9 months.  Check out the VUDU value prop if you are interested in learning more: http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=875498507&play=1
