Crestron patent application describes a smart bulb with an integrated on/off mechanism, so users can turn the lamp "off" locally but still control via app or home automation. Is it practical?

Lutron had an RF lamp socket dimmer like 10 years ago. I don’t think it did very well in terms of sales.

What these clowns really need to do is make a GD dimmable outlet! Or at least a switched one. X10 and Z-Wave can do it, but Lutron and Crestron can’t? WTF?

Because the lazy consumers who want automated lighting and control of all loads from every interface are willing to reach their hand into the lamp shade? What is this, the 50’s? This is filing a patent just for patent’s sake; or in hopes some other bored inventor copies it only to then be sued for infringing on this nonsense.
