SIM2, Krell to Share Booth at CEDIA Expo 2009

While some companies are scaling back their CEDIA Expo 2009 exhibits — or not exhibiting at all — SIM2 is looking to increase its presence and gain some market share.
That’s why the projector manufacturer decided to co-exhibit with Krell in booth 2912, according to SIM2. Bringing Krell’s high-end audio components into the mix, SIM2 says its full in-theater demos will “leave a lasting impression.”
Bill McKiegan, Krell’s VP of USA sales and marketing, goes even further. “We expect to deliver the most exciting home theater experience at the Expo.”
“Each brand represents the pinnacle of performance in its respective category,” says Charlie Boornazian, SIM2’s VP of sales and marketing.
Boornazian adds that the two companies have another connection. “We share the common goal of wanting to bring reference quality back to the forefront," he says. "While many brands are trying to ‘make do’ with low-priced products,…

Crowson DDP-4 Controls Tactile Motion Signals via RS-232

Crowson Technology is releasing its DDP-4 Digital Distribution Preamplifier, which distributes and controls Tactile Motion signals.
The DDP-4, which will be displayed at CEDIA Expo 2008 at booth 899, controls signals for up to four separate zones via two-way RS-232.
It also features six inputs, 16 outputs and the ability to mix both sound and motion signals.
Crowson Technology is best known for its Linear Actuator, the TES 100, which allows enthusiasts to integrate Tactile Motion into their movie experiences.
The new DDP-4 complements this technology by allowing users to remotely control and personalize the intensity of each chair, row or zone. It also gives users the ability to adjust seats individually.
Crowson says it's the first tactile motion control to offer integration with all major home theater control and automation systems.

Knoll Systems Unveils Energy-Saving Amp, DarkChip4 Projector

Knoll has developed energy-saving circuitry for its amplifiers and a new projector with DLP DarkChip4.
Both products will be shown at the company's booth (948) at CEDIA Expo 2008.
The GS12 class A/B amp features the company's new Eco-System circuitry. This patent-pending circuit determines which of the 12 stereo channels (four pairs) are in use and delivers power only to those channels.
The channels that are "off" are truly off, not in "standby" or "mute." The active channels, thus, share more rail voltage and have more reserve power for the channels in use.
The GS12 uses less than 4 watts when idle, according to Knoll, saying amps without Eco-System use 14 times the power when idle or in standby.
Knoll says the Eco-System will save users one hundred dollars or more per year on bills. It also features an energy-saving fan that is thermostatically controlled.

Bryston Intros D-Series Zone Amplifiers

Bryston is introducing its D-Series 8-channel zone amplifiers -- the D-130Z and D-250Z.
The company says there will eventually be four models in the D-Series rated at 90, 130, 250 and 400 watts per channel at 4 ohms.
Each model has bridgeable channels, assignable input configurations and independent level controls for each channel.
The D-130Z delivers 130 watts at 4 ohms and has four stereo zones bridgeable to 400 watts at 8 ohms.
The D-250Z has eight channels with 250 watts at 4 ohms. It also has four stereo zones bridgeable to 800 watts at 8 ohms.
The stereo bus on each model can be linked to other amps, and 12v trigger powers the amplifiers on and off and mutes each zone independently.
Both have soft-start circuit and gold-plated 5-way speaker binding posts.
Bryston will display the D-130Z and D-250Z at its booth (637) at CEDIA Expo 2008.

AudioSource Ships AS Series In-Wall Subwoofers

AudioSource is now shipping its new AS Series of in-wall subwoofers and the AMPSUB210 subwoofer amp.
The in-wall subs comes in 8- and 10-inch carbon/polypropylene models. The AS8SW (8-inch) subwoofer handles up to 100 watts of power at 8 ohms, has a sensitivity rating of 87 dB and a frequency response of 40Hz-300Hz.
The AS10SW (10-inch) handles up to 150 watts of power at 8 ohms with a sensitivity rating of 88 dB. It has a frequency response of 33Hz-300Hz.
"Our in-wall sub systems, complete with two available in-wall models to choose from, allow contractors and consumers alike an option to get their audio components up off the floor when floor space is at a premium and floorstanding or bookshelf subs are not an option, or when the common ugly black box subwoofer is not the first aesthetic choice for a room," says AudioSource director of engineering Stewart Millager.
