NeoPro Introduces NeoStar Fiber Optic Matrix Switcher

If you want the very best audio and video distributed throughout a very large house, you'll want to use fiber optic cable.
At CEDIA 2009, NeoPro will debut NeoStar, a fiber-optic switch designed to deliver eight streams of 1080p HDMI video and six additional audio sources to eight video and four audio-only zones.
The audio/video content can reach as far as 1,000 feet over fiber optics.
Last year, NeoPro introduced LightSpider, a point-to-point fiber optic solution. This year, the company is going all the way, again using Digital Light Interface (DLI) technology from OWLink Technology, Inc.
DLI uses advanced optical wave division multiplexing (WDM) to transmit uncompressed video/audio and other data. With OWLink’s patented technology, DLI allows the transmission of high-speed HD digital video, high quality digital audio, IR remote control information, USB, LAN, RS232 and other control and data information, all through a thin, single fiber.

Miracle of Miracles: PPC’s Latching HDMI Connectors Won’t Fall Out

Under the category of "Duh, Why Didn't I Think of That!" is the locking HDMI connector from PPC.
Sad that a company has to boast that "our cables won't fall out," but such is the nature of HDMI connectors.
The patent-pending connectors have two tiny prongs that latch into HDMI ports. Press the release on the connector to remove the cable.
The cable stays firm with up to 10.5 pounds of pressure "which is three times better than usual," says PPC's Wayne Hostetler. "It's not much, but it won't fall out if you dust it."
He says that the cables don't carry much of a premium over traditional HDMI cables. A three-foot cable retails for $47 and a 12-foot cable is $68.
The cables have not yet passed HDMI certification "but we're close," Hostetler says. The folks at the HDMI booth confirm that. In fact, they sent a lot of traffic to the PPC booth…

Wireworld Adds Ultraviolet USB for Media Servers, Digital Music

Wireworld has introduced its Ultraviolet USB cable, the company's first upgrade USB cable.
The company says the cable features a flat design that enables runs up to 7 meters (23 feet), which is longer than most conventional USB cables.
Wireworld adds that Ultraviolet provides "improved sound quality" in media servers, PC audio and other digital music applications.
Ultraviolet USB cables, which will be on hand at CEDIA Expo 2008, are available in the following lengths (in meters): 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7.
"Now that USB audio inputs have become a standard feature on home theater receivers and desktop music systems, the demand for upgrade USB cables is absolutely exploding," says Wireworld president David Salz.
The design of the Ultraviolet USB cable is derived from the company's flat HDMI cables. Wireworld says the conductor topology reduces digital jitter to minimize audible degradation and noise.

Honeywell CURxELight HDMI Cable Autocorrects Corrupt Data

Honeywell's CURxELight HDMI cable is designed to meet the requirements of home theater enthusiasts and professional A/V installers, allowing them to experience peak levels of HDTV performance.
Honeywell says the cable is the first to automatically correct corrupted HDCP and EDID data that degrades the HD picture and multi-channel audio.
The company's Genesis Crystal 7000 Series 0.5-meter HDMI cable earned the highest DPL rating.
HDCP and EDID data becomes corrupted as a result of inconsistencies of hardware manufacturers' implementation of HDMI (e.g., excessive internal capacitance).
Working in the background, CURxE Light Technology automatically cleans the bad data to its intended dynamic range for the best picture quality.
This corrupt data, if left uncorrected, causes dropout of the picture or audio signal, incorrect resolution, intermittent "snow" in the picture, or a pink or blue hued screen.
The new cable will be showcased at Honeywell's booth (310)…
