Rotel Unveils New Flagship 15 Series

Rotel will debut its flagship 15 Series at CEDIA Expo 2008, calling the series "the most important intro in many years."
The 15 Series includes multi-channel home theater receivers, a preamp/processor and power amplifiers. Rotel says it will also add a two-channel series in early 2009.
Two A/V receivers and the preamp/processor feature HDMI v1.3 connectivity and compatibility with Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master.
All three components incorporate onboard Faroudja video processing that delivers 1080p scaling with 24 Hz capability. The receivers and pre/pro feature audio and video pathways and control functions for second, third, and fourth zones or remote rooms, according to Rotel.
The flagship 7.1-channel RSX-1560 has 7 x 100 watts of class D power (with assignable channels for bi-amp or second-zone use), four HDMI v1.3 inputs and 1080p/24Hz Faroudja video processing, with assignable 12-volt triggers and RS-232C serial connectivity for easy integration into a customized system.

Key Digital Tackles Cat 5 Video Distribution Quality

Key Digital Systems could have named its gala pre-CEDIA Expo preview event in New York City "From Russia with Love."
The company recently unveiled a handful of products in a high-rise MDU on Central Park West amid a layout of fine Russian delicacies, including caviar and vodka.
President Mike Tsinberg started off the event by showing a 3-minute DVD about the company’s vision for the future.
He then unveiled what he called a line of breakthrough Smart Baluns and matrix switchers with the Smart Baluns inside them.
“Dealers love Cat 5. That is what we have learned. It’s easy to use and low cost," Tsinberg says.
"Dealers want to use it in every way possible, but it doesn’t transmit long distances well."
But with sophisticated silicon signal processing, he says Key Digital can push a high-quality signal through a poor transmission channel like Cat 5 and achieve the same performance as…

NAD Introduces Audiophile-Quality Preamp-Tuner-Processor and Multi-Channel Power Amps
SHARON, MA, Aug. 28, 2007-- NAD Electronics, highly regarded as a manufacturer of high-performance audio components, introduces a trio of new audio separates, the T 175 Preamp-Tuner-Processor, and two multi-channel amplifiers, the Seven-Channel T 975 Power Amplifier and Five-Channel T 955 Power Amplifier, at CEDIA EXPO '07.
Designed for demanding audiophiles, the new separates represent NAD's core values of simplicity, performance and value and further reinforce its "Music First" design philosophy, which declares that state-of-the-art music recordings remain the truest test of any playback system. "The new products embody the best of our thinking and technologies," said Greg Stidsen, NAD Director of Product Development. "Instead of surrendering to the 'wattage wars' or 'me too' features, we've focused on superb real-world sonics, honestly useful power, and valuable, forward-looking concepts."
T 175 Preamp-Tuner-Processor
The T 175 boasts a more intuitive, less intimidating user interface than is typically seen today, reflecting NAD's belief that many home-entertainment products have grown too complex and unwieldy. At…

DVDO’s VP50 Pro: First Video Processor with HDMI 1.3 Receiver / Transmitter Chips

This original article had to do with DVDO's release of the "world's first video processor to feature THX certification," the DVDO iScan VP50 Pro. In fact, the first release of the VP50 Pro will not include the certification, but it will be, according to the manufacturer, "the world's first video processor for home theater systems to utilize HDMI 1.3 receiver/transmitter chips.
The technology allows users to connect other HDMI-compliant 1.3 devices which support high-definition audio formats and Deep Color available on some
newer sources like HD-DVD Blu-Ray and PS3. "This capability allows the VP50 PRO to provide customers with years of service as new source devices with this standard start to emerge," the company says.
Meanwhile, it does expect to receive THX certification "soon, but not today."
Read the final press release on the VP50 Pro.
