Fuze Media Center Built Specifically for Whole-House Audio
image
Fuze Media is a startup that wanted to come up with the ultimate out-of-the-box multimedia experience, including whole-house audio and video, photo sharing, music and movie management, PVR capabilities, the works.

The result is the Fuze Media Server which starts with the FuzeBox media server hub and FuzeMini server clients. They look a lot like Media Center PCs.

Fuze insists that they aren't. Specifically, Fuze says it is "not a control or MCE system."

Yet the main Fuze server, the FuzeBox, is OEMed by Velocity Micro, has the same CableCard capabilities, same form factor, and same Viiv logo as one of Velocity's Media Center PCs.

The Fuze jargon is also Media Center-like:

FUZE delivers a complete system that stores, manages, organizes, and distributes all of your digital media -- to any part of the home. Live TV, recorded TV, movies, videos, music, digital photos, and more are all…

NuVo’s Grand Essentia is First Multiroom Audio System with Energy Star
image
The release last year of NuVo's Grand Concerto multiform audio system was wildly successful, according to company president David Rodarte. So why not bring some of the great features of that 6x8 product to its little sister, the 6x6 Essentia?

At CEDIA, NuVo will introduce the Grand Essentia, whose hallmark is the sleek OLED display -- just like the one that makes the Grand Concerto so elegant. For the Grand Essentia, NuVo shrunk the interface to a single-gang display which has the "same level of information, just fewer lines of text," says Steve Horton, director of education.

Similarly, NuVo flattened the original 2U (two rack spaces) Essentia to a slender 1U box, while maintaining essentially the same feature set, including 40 watts of power per zone.

"No other six-source, six-zone system available on the market today fits in a single vertical space on a rack," NuVo claims. The lightweight unit weighs only 6.5 lbs.

Vanco’s Patent-Pending Whole-House Audio & Home Theater Wall Plates
image
Batavia, IL. - Vanco International, Inc., an innovative supplier of home theater electronics for over 50 years, is introducing three patent-pending Whole House Audio and Home Theater Combination Wall Plates.

These exclusive wall plates are designed to allow for the connections of a whole house audio and home theater system at one convenient wall location. The unique combination of these two features on one wall plate offers a precise, professional installation. With three configurations available, installers will have no problem finding one that will work for their specific installation needs.

The first combination is a Whole House Audio with 6.2 Home Theater Wall Plate. This plate provides an open port (3/4" x 1-9/16") for bulk wire and direct connections to the system's A/V components and combines it with a 6.2 home theater plate designed for home theater systems that consist of (6) audio speakers and (2) subwoofers.

The next configuration is a Wide Port (dual gang) Whole House…

Applied Wireless: Wireless Audio Solutions
image
With new construction flat, the retrofit market is hot. So there's no better time than now to introduce wireless A/V products to the marketplace, which is what Applied Wireless plans to do from their CEDIA Expo booth.

The company, which has roots in the commercial, industrial and military markets, is coming out with "wireless products specifically targeted for the upper-end home theater market to make the installer's life easier," says Lee Fleishman, director of marketing.

At the 2007 show, Applied Wireless is focusing on a new line of wireless audio products for home theaters and multiroom applications. (Video products will be shown, but primarily for digital signage and other commercial apps.) Applied uses its own RF technology in the 900 MHz spectrum, which is better suited than today's 2.4 GHz solutions, Fleishman asserts.
