Leveraging technology and build elements from the award winning Krell Modulari Duo Reference loudspeaker, the Modulari Ion brings audiophile grade sound to flat panel TV installations. Cabinets are solid core birch and feature ¼” billet Aluminum baffles. The drivers are identical to the ones used in the Modulari Duo Reference loudspeaker. A 1” ScanSpeak ring radiator tweeter provides flat frequency response to 64kHz. Two 7” aluminum-cone ScanSpeak woofers provide low frequencies. A proprietary suspension and extended voice coil assure high power handling and extremely linear performance. The woofers are positioned forward of the tweeter achieving time alignment of the drivers. Separate crossover assemblies are used for each driver. Crossover circuitry is mounted to 1/8” glass epoxy circuit boards with 4 oz. copper traces, ensuring low microphonics and high current handling. Extensive correction is applied to each driver for the smoothest impedance curve. Crossover components are of the highest quality. All inductors are air-core pure copper designs and individually potted polypropylene WIMA capacitors are used to minimize inductance and resistance, and improve current handling. Although best with Krell amplification, the Modulari Ion is easy to drive with an impedance of 4 ohms and sensitivity of 91dB. Frequency response is 60-20,000Hz, +/-3dB.
